Hi guys, today I’m going to talk about something a little personal and highly requested. At first I was unsure if I wanted to share this on my blog because I was scared about opening up and what people might say. But I realized my journey and my story could help other people in a positive way. Being able to help or connect with just one person was greater to me than my fear of what other people could say.
The tools that helped me
Growing up I always felt self conscious about my body. I lacked confidence in myself, I compared myself to others, and didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin. I dreaded working out, and had horrible eating habits. When I did workout, I rewarded myself with junk food. I wanted to make a change, but always told myself “tomorrow” and then one day I realized “tomorrow” was today.
I wouldn’t have made the progress I’ve made today without the help of Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide and Herbalife. Together, BBG and Herbalife helped me develop healthy habits, and turned “dieting” and working out into a life style. It started with one change. From there I continued on with new goals.
Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide
I discovered Kayla years ago on Instagram and was amazed at the before and after pictures of women who did BBG. Seriously, the before and after pictures are incredible. I couldn’t believe bodies could change that dramatically. My life definitely didn’t change instantly when I bought her BBG. I started and failed for months when I didn’t see drastic changes I was so naive to think would come instantly.
Finally, after weeks and weeks of starting BBG on and off. I did something that actually worked. I made a goal to workout for a month without falling off and to consistently follow the guide. I completed four weeks of the BBG, and once I did I saw some small results. Week four changed everything for me. I finally saw results I was looking so hard for, and then I became addicted.
I’ve lost count on weeks I’ve completed of BBG. Right now I’m on my 6th round, week 10. BBG worked so well for me because it gave me structure and an exact plan to follow. I also love it because I can do all of the resistance training at home, which is so convenient.
Herbalife is a weight management system that taught me healthy eating is not “dieting” but a life style. I began Herbalife shortly after BBG, because I realized the changes I wanted to see were actually possible but I needed to change my “diet”.
The Herbalife system replaces two of your three meals a day with Healthy Meal Nutritional Shakes, and the third meal is a balanced meal you prepare. The advanced program I followed ensures your body gets all the nutrients you need with various supplements, and the actual shakes are packed with protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals you find in regular food. Of course in between all of this I snacked on healthy foods like cheese and nuts.
Since Herbalife I have become so much more aware of the food I’m eating. Today, I continue to do Herbalife, but often switch out shakes. I genuinely love drinking Herbalife smoothies though, so most often I have two shakes a day, and one balanced meal, with snacks in between. I stay away from white starches, no pasta, white rice, or bread. Instead I eat lean protein and vegetables, and if I do add a starch I eat brown rice or quinoa. Dessert and sweets are the hardest thing to stay away from. 🙁 I try my best to limit my sweets, but often have cheat days lol No ones perfect! The most important thing for me is balance. #Workhard #eattacos
Health and Fitness For Life
Kayla Itsines helped me discover something I now love to do. I workout 5-6 days a week, 3 days of strength training, and 2-3 days of cardio. Working out is like therapy for me. I make working out a priority, and schedule my day around fitting in a work out. It’s only 30-50 minutes a day, you CAN make time for it! I’ve managed to stay so consistent by continuing to set new goals and finding new ways to challenge myself.
My tip to you: Stay patient. Progress is slow and not everyone sees it at the same time. Stop focussing on the scale, and focus on how you feel after working out. The minute I stopped thinking about the scale, I saw results.
Herbalife completely changed the way I look at eating. Now, after I eat something heavy like a burger or plate lunch I feel sluggish, bloated, and uninspired. I genuinely prefer eating healthy food over not so healthy food because of the way it makes me feel.
My tip to you: It’s all about balance. Schedule a cheat meal each week, so you have something to look forward to. “Eat clean to stay fit, have a burger to stay sane” -Gigi Hadid
The most important thing I learned from this journey was how to love myself. Confidence doesn’t come naturally or easily, it is something that must be practiced. Taking care of my health and my body has become a form of loving myself. I lost 30 lbs, but I gained confidence, strength, and a healthier mind, body, and soul.
If you read through this whole post you deserve an award lol. I really hope you guys enjoyed this post. I’m thinking about doing more health and fitness blogs, possibly What I eat in a day, a Fitness Routine, and other tips I may have. If y’all are interested let me know 🙂
Disclaimer: I am not a trainer or a nutritionist. This is simply what worked for me and my body. 🙂
A Whole Lotta Love,
