There is no shame in the selfie game. My secret to the perfect selfie, is the perfect foundation. If I’m planning to take pictures, I look for a foundation that offers enough coverage to blur imperfections but isn’t too heavy. I want to create even coverage that covers breakouts, while still looking as “natural” and as me as possible. These are my four favorite drugstore foundations I can count on to create a bomb selfie.
1. Loreal Infallible Pro Matte 24HR Foundation– My all time favorite drugstore foundation. The coverage is medium to full with a demi matte finish. This is my go to foundation when I need to look my best. The foundation claims to be 24hr wear. I don’t know if it lasts for a full 24 hours, but it does last me all day without getting oily. I like to apply this foundation with a damp beauty blender to create an airbrushed effect.
2. Maybeline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation– Amazing, amazing, amazing coverage! Although its called “Matte and Poreless” its not overly matte, it leaves a natural looking finish. The foundation is really buildable and can get to full coverage without being cakey. I like to apply this foundation with a Morphe M439 Delux Buffer Brush.
3. Revlon Colorstay Makeup– I’ve tried this foundation in the oily/combination and normal/dry formulas. I usually gravitate toward foundations formulated for oily/combination skin, or matte foundations. But I actually really like the normal/dry formula because it creates healthy looking skin. Sometimes I apply the oily/combination formula to my T-zone, and the normal/dry formula to the other parts of my face to control shine in my T-zone, but look more dewy everywhere else. I use a beauty blender to apply this foundation.
Tip: If you’re taking selfies with this foundation, make sure its for day time photos. The SPF is awesome to protect your skin from the sun, but not so awesome for night time photos with flash.
4. Loreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation– I can’t believe I found a foundation formulated for creating dewy skin that I love. I have oily/combination skin so I normally stay away from foundations with dewy or luminous finishes. But I was surprised to find that this foundation leaves a beautiful healthy looking finish that doesn’t leave me looking overly greasy or oily. The coverage is light to medium, but buildable. I love to wear this foundation when I’m in the mood for glowing natural looking skin. To apply I dip a flat top kabuki brush, my favorite is the Morphe E6, directly onto the cushion.
I hope this helps you find the right foundation to achieve your perfect selfie. Good makeup doesn’t have to be expensive!
A Whole Lotta Love,
